ABS is held 3 times a year - January, April and October. In applying for ABS there are a few options you can select from:
Please note that there are just 18 places available on each course and due to popularity these are filled very quickly (often 6 to 9 months in advance).
We operate a wait-list system so people can apply to be on standby to come if someone is unfortunate to have to dropout before the course commences. However, the wait-lists can be long, and we encourage you to apply early for an open place to avoid disappointment.

The ABS programme has been developed over many years, to allow students the opportunity to combine Bible teaching with physical and outdoor activities. Sea, sky, mountains, bush, and caves provide the setting for our classroom. Through challenging outdoor activities designed to stretch you, we explore practical Christian living and how we relate to God, others and ourselves.
The course includes a balance of:
• Practical Bible Study
• Adventure Activities
• Practical Activities
Will I be fit enough?
A reasonable level of fitness is expected in order to get the most out of the course; no prior experience is necessary. The benchmark is that you can run 3 km (2 miles) without stopping. This will be tested on the first week of the ABS programme.
Activities that you may participate in while on ABS:
Please note that these can be weather dependant, we do not offer every activity on every course.
- Abseiling (rappelling)
- Kayaking (lake, white water)
- Rock Climbing
- Tramping (hiking)
Please be honest to disclose any pre-existing injuries prior to application (or prior to the course commencement if injured after application) , as you may be excluded from the course if such injuries prevent you from participating.
Be prepared to be stretched both spiritually and physically!
